How to Stop a Foreclosure Auction in Florida

If you have equity, a bailout loan can pay off the foreclosing debt before the sale date.

Start with your equity

A bailout loan can only stop the auction if the property is worth enough. The payoff — the amount needed to end the foreclosure, plus closing costs — should be no more than 50% of the property value, and in some cases up to 65%. Run the numbers in the pre-approval calculator on our home page: it estimates closing costs at 10% of the loan required and checks the result against those limits.

Steps to stop the sale with a bailout loan

1
Know your auction date
The closer the sale, the sooner you should call — funding takes days, a valuation can take 7–12 days.
2
Get your payoff figures
What you owe on the foreclosing loan and any other payoff items, such as taxes or other liens.
3
Check the loan-to-value
Payoff no higher than 50% of the value (in some cases 65%), minimum loan $150,000.
4
Apply and fund
We review the property, order a valuation when needed ($650–$800) and fund the payoff.
